Silver-Filled Mixed Metal Articulated Fish
Vintage, 20th Century
This vintage figural sculpture depicts a carp or koi fish with a fully articulated body, allowing for lifelike movement and posing. The piece is constructed from silver-filled mixed metal, featuring detailed repousse-style scales, fins, and a textured head. These articulated fish figures have a long history in decorative arts, particularly in Asian and Mediterranean metalwork, often used as snuff bottles or cabinet curios.
• Articulated construction with multiple interlocking body segments for fluid movement
• Silver-filled mixed metal composition providing a bright finish with natural depth
• Detailed casting includes individual scales, rayed fins, and prominent eyes
• Length: 3 inches; Width: approximately 23.5mm (as indicated by measuring tools)
Condition: Good vintage condition. The articulation remains fluid and intact across all segments. The silver-filled surface shows a light, natural patina consistent with age, particularly in the recessed areas of the scales and fins. No structural breaks, missing fins, or major dents are visible. The metal is not hallmarked, consistent with many mid-century figural metalwork pieces.
