The specific visual design of this set—featuring simple geometric facial stencil patterns, curved paws held inward, and stylized lower legs on rectangular wooden bases—is the exact hallmark design manufactured by Abbott\'s Magic Mfg. Co.. This particular vintage style dates back to the 1940s to 1950s era.
Hippity-Hop Rabbits is one of the all-time legendary comedy magic effects for family audiences. Two large wooden cut-out rabbits—one black and one white—are displayed on stand bases. After being covered with decorated covers, the two rabbits magically switch places back and forth repeatedly. The audience quickly gets suspicious and yells out that the performer is simply turning the rabbits around [since they assume the rabbits are black on one side and white on the other]. After building up maximum interaction and laughter, the performer turns the figures around to reveal a surprise kicker ending: the backs are entirely different colors [typically bright yellow and red or patterned wood graphics]!
Why Add It to Your Repertoire:
Hippity-Hop Rabbits is universally recognized by professional children\'s and family entertainers as a masterclass in audience participation and \"sucker-trick\" comedy. Handcrafted from vintage wood with traditional stenciled artwork, this set provides exceptional durability and a classic nostalgic aesthetic that modern plastic props simply cannot match. It is completely self-working, plays massive on stage or in parlor settings, and consistently produces screaming laughter and intense crowd engagement from start to finish.
