Effect: Cards chosen are replaced in deck and deck placed in houlette. A small start - stop lever at the top of the deck activates the watch mechanism causing a wheel to turn, winding a thread, causing the selected cards to rise.
Working: There are no directions with this Rising Cards Deck. When wound up and the lever pushed, the wheel behind the top card, turns winding the thread.Three of the loose cards with blue backs have small holes that line up at the top of the cards for the thread to pass through. It appears that cards pushed down into the deck would push the thread down. Pushing the lever starts the wheel turning. As the wheel turns, it tightens the thread, causing the cards to rise.
The back cards on this deck were unglued to enable watch adjustment. With cleaning and adjustment this rising card deck may be workable for use in Magic Shows. This Abbott's Watchwork Rising Cards with the glass houlette, and allen wrench is very rare and collectable.
