Vintage AL MAR Knives Model #8505 Gunstock V fixed-blade knife, made in Seki, Japan.

The Gunstock V is one of Al Mar’s most distinctive vintage designs. Its sculpted pistol-grip-style Pakkawood handle was inspired by the stock of a Winchester lever-action rifle, while the original leather sheath was designed in the style of a revolver holster.

The thick upswept blade features a deep hollow grind and tapered full-tang construction. Its complex curves, polished guard, sculpted handle, and unusual holster-style sheath give this model a highly recognizable appearance.

The knife itself is in excellent cosmetic condition. There are no noticeable scratches on the blade surfaces or handle.

The cutting edge appears to have been lightly touched up with a sharpening stone. However, the original factory machine-ground edge lines are still visible, indicating that the blade has not been heavily resharpened.

The leather sheath shows scratches, rubbing, and areas of finish loss from age and use. The stitching, retaining straps, and snap fasteners remain intact.
