This is a vintage 1989 Russian porcelain box, hand-painted in the lacquer-miniature tradition with scenes from Alexander Pushkin’s “The Tale of Tsar Saltan.” The domed lid depicts a fairy-tale walled city amid golden autumn trees, while the body wraps a vivid procession of courtiers, guards, and royalty in period dress, all rendered against a glossy black ground with gilt trim.
The underside carries the full inscription, in Russian and English: numbered 6781A, created by Palekh artist Vladimir Vlezko for the first collection of porcelain boxes of its kind ever produced in the USSR, limited to 150 days of firing. Marked “Made in USSR,” dated ©1989, with the maker’s logo.
Measures approximately 4.5 x 3.5 x 2.5 inches. Excellent vintage condition. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
