Montana Silversmiths of Columbus, Montana is known for western belt buckles and rodeo trophy buckles. This one is engraved as a team roping championship buckle and dated 1989, with a gold-tone roping scene that stands out against the engraved silver-plate face. It would look right on a belt at the arena, in a western-wear collection, or in a display case.
The front is engraved MRCA / Champion / Team Roper / 1989, with an applied gold-tone team roping scene, horseshoe and banner, and four red stones set in gold-tone flowers. The back is stamped Montana Silversmiths, Sterling Silver Plate, Columbus, Mont. It is silver plated with gold-tone accents, not solid sterling. It weighs about 7 oz (0.45 lb), a substantial buckle. No recipient name is engraved on it.
Condition: Used, good. There are scratches on the gold-tone banner and horseshoe, tarnish and patina on the plating, and wear and oxidation on the back. No chips, cracks or missing stones. See photos.
The photos are part of the description, and it will be packed with care.
