Vintage 1984 Uiver Memorial Flight postcard set of 7.
Produced by International Souvenirs Industries bv, Almere Haven – Holland, for the 50th anniversary of the famous 1934 London–Melbourne Air Race. All cards are headed “1934 Uiver Memorial Flight 1984” and feature the KLM Douglas DC-2 “Uiver” (PH-AJU, race number 44).
Set includes:
• Color aerial of the DC-2 over Amsterdam (Dam & Royal Palace) during a 1983 test flight
• B&W reception at Schiphol Airport after the handicap victory
• B&W scene of the Albury, Australia emergency landing (crowd pulling the plane from the mud)
• Color artist’s impression by Thijs Postma of the aircraft in flight
• Dramatic color Thijs Postma painting of the return to Schiphol
• Color photo of PH-AJU high in the clouds on a test flight
• B&W historical view of the DC-2 at Tjililitan (near Jakarta) during the 1934 race
