Original vintageAmbitune Radio Four Longwave to Mediumwave Converter, designed and manufactured in England byAmbit International, 2 Gresham Road, Brentwood, Essex.
Dating from approximately1978/79, the Ambitune was produced following the BBC Radio 4 wavelength changes. It was designed to receive the BBC Radio 4 long-wave transmission and convert/retransmit it to a medium-wave frequency so that Radio 4 could be received using an existing MW radio.
An interesting piece ofBritish broadcasting, BBC, wireless and electronics history. The Ambitune was publicised at the time in the electronics press and was featured on the BBC\'sTomorrow\'s World. An example is also catalogued in theScience Museum Group collection.
This is an original surviving example and has not been restored. The case retains the original Ambitune graphics including:

The unit has been opened for the photographs so that the original internal components can be seen.
Condition:UNTESTED , SOLD AS SEEN FOR SPARES REPAIR OR PROP. Vintage used condition with age-related marks, scratches and general cosmetic wear as shown. Internal components appear substantially present, but no guarantee is made regarding their electrical condition.
Functionality is unknown and the unit is UNTESTED. It is therefore being sold as a vintage collectable/electronics item rather than as guaranteed working equipment.
