Vintage ROAR (Restore Our Alienated Rights) \"Stop Forced Busing\" Pinback Button
Up for sale/sale is an authentic piece of 1970s American political history. This vintage celloloid pinback button was produced by the Boston-based organization ROAR (Restore Our Alienated Rights), which was founded in 1974 by Louise Day Hicks to oppose court-ordered school desegregation busing in Boston Public Schools.
• Design: Features the iconic roaring brown lion clutching a yellow school bus, surrounded by the text: \"RESTORE OUR ALIENATED RIGHTS – STOP FORCED BUSING\".
• Historical Significance: An identical design is preserved in major institutions, including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. It serves as a stark historical artifact from a turbulent chapter of the civil rights and integration era in the Northern United States.
• Condition Details: Please review the photos carefully. The front face maintains excellent color and legibility. There is mild age-related wear around the rim and on the face.
This is a rare addition for collectors of political memorabilia, Civil Rights movement artifacts, or Massachusetts regional history.
