Up for sale is a rare, original vintage 1950s Bürgermeister Beer cardboard/fiberboard advertising sign.
Produced by the famous The Weiller Co. (Philadelphia, PA), this classic piece of breweriana features a highly detailed sporting illustration titled "Chesapeake Bay Retriever" across the top, showing a retriever working a marsh with a mallard duck in its mouth. The bottom displays the iconic mid-century slogan: "It's so much more refreshing."
A unique design detail of this sign is the outer border: it is not a separate wooden frame, but a detailed faux-wood grain printed directly onto the heavy fiberboard matrix to give it a rustic, framed look.
• Era: Circa 1950s
• Dimensions: Approximately 14" Wide x 11.25" High
• Material: Heavy fiberboard/cardboard composite
• Backing: Features the original string hanger taped to the reverse side, ready to mount.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with wonderful, bright color preservation. There is authentic corner and edge wear/bumping, along with minor layering separation to the composite board edges consistent with age (please inspect all photos carefully for details). The central image and text fields are smooth and display beautifully. Perfect rustic addition to any tavern collector's wall, hunting cabin, man cave, or den.
