Rustic, hand stitched cottage quilt in the Double Nine Patch pattern. Using multicolored, scrappy calico and solid fabric squares set against an off white/cream background. Backing is solid bright olive/chartreuse green. Color changes in photos due to lighting, however the folded quilt pictures show the most accurate green color.
Intricately hand pieced and quilted fine, dense stitching visible throughout the negative space. Some areas using big stitch for negative space Infinity Twist motif pattern stitching is intricately sewn in the negative space between squares, along side Wreath/oval designs in the corner blocks. This quilt looks like it was done by either an elderly or beginner quilter in that it lacks the precision of stitching and square lines of a master quilter. However, it is very charming and clearly old. I have no way of determining the age but likely some of you reading this see some clues.
Condition: Pre-owned vintage condition. Several of the postage pieces have frayed from one side. (see pics) The cream back ground has subtle color variation consistent with age and use. There 3 spots highlighted in photos next to pen, the pen top is 2" (see photos)
