This is an authentic mid-century Hollywood Regency tabletop vanity mirror crafted by the renowned Matson Manufacturing Company.
This heavy, substantial piece features an ornate French Rococo-style scrollwork border topped with a beautifully detailed seated cherub/cupid motif. The reverse side features the definitive authentic "M MFG. This piece is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, or rustic decor due to the following condition details:
• The Cherub Motif: The cherub's right raised arm is partially broken off at hand area (the piece is missing). Please see close-up photos for exact details.
• The Stand: The original swing-out easel/kickstand on the back has broken off, is missing and is NOT included. The mirror cannot stand independently on its own, (acrylic stand shown is not included).
• The Prong Tabs: The mirror glass is secured by metal prong tabs lining the reverse border.
A few of these tabs are bent out of shape, one is broken off, and a crack near one.
• Frame Finish & Glass: The ornate gold-plated frame is otherwise physically intact. The gold finish shows a beautiful, authentic vintage patina with light surface wear and minor oxidation/discoloration on the reverse side. The beveled mirror glass is structurally intact with no cracks, though it shows authentic vintage desilvering spots ("vintage smoke/clouding"'), giving it wonderful antique character.
Display Options for the Buyer:
Despite the missing easel and partial break, this heavy piece is beautiful for a variety of projects:
1. Display Stand: Can easily be propped up on a decorative tabletop dish plate stand or heavy-duty acrylic easel (as shown in photos).
2. Wall Hanging Conversion: A small wire or hanging ring can easily be attached to the rear to transform this into a stunning accent wall mirror.
