VTG Japanese Arita Ware Ariyama Kiln 有山 Plum Flower Stoneware Sushi Plate Cup For Sale

This vintage Japanese Arita-Yaki appetizer and sushi set is a beautiful example of mid-to-late 20th-century Sometsuke (blue and white) tableware from the respected Ariyama Kiln (有山窯). Crafted from heavy, durable ceramic stoneware, the set features a rich indigo-blue glaze hand-finished with stylized white five-petal plum blossom (Ume) motifs. The pieces boast a unique rustic character with iron-speckled, texturized detailing in the off-white underglaze and organic, wavy edges. Complete with a signed 有山 (Ariyama) maker's mark under the glaze, this collection beautifully blends traditional Japanese folk-art aesthetics with everyday functionality, making it a perfect set for serving sushi, small appetizer dishes (kobachi), or traditional sake.
