• Item : Paper Mache/Composite Fontanini Nativity Wise Man Gaspar- 9.5" (for 12" Scale Nativity).
• Condition :WONDERFUL condition especially considering the age (mid-century 1940's) - The base is solidly attached & paint is stable- No chips or cracks noted - Rich bright colors - Face & hands are beautiful the whole piece looks like fine porcelain. Very very nice!
• Era : 1940s
• Special Features : Notice the engaging expression w/ furrowed brow, the brilliantly sculpted beard & His lovely gift of frankincense held w/ delicate elongated hands & His beautiful flowing robes - Wonderful Italian Renaissance portrayal of the King of India Gaspar.
• Material : Paper Mache/ Composite - Heavier than you might expect.
• Approximate Measurements : 9.5" Tall x 4.5" Wide x 4.5 Deep. (This statue is for the 12" scale Nativity).
• Imported :Italy.
• Signed : Artist signature is stamped at the base "E. SIMONETTI" (see photo).

This wonderful kneeling statue of King Gaspar bringing frankincense, thought to represent the divinity of Jesus, is so beautiful it could easily stand alone as a spectacular religious figure in a display cabinet for year round enjoyment if not used in a Nativity scene.
