VTG Cairns & Brother aluminum fire helmet, the classic American fireman\'s helmet. The red Cairns & Brother Inc. maker\'s medallion (Clifton, New Jersey) is still riveted inside the crown, so this is an authentic Cairns.

It is the traditional ribbed dome in black over aluminum, with the long rear brim and the raised center comb running front to back. The brass front holder is still mounted. It is embossed with the Maltese cross, ladder and hydrant around a red enamel \"FD\" center, and stamped with the patent number along the edge. The hanging ring is still on the rear brim.

This is the helmet shell with its brass front holder. It has no liner, chinstrap or leather front shield, so it is ready for whatever you have in mind. You could add a front shield from your own department, restore it, or display it as is with all the character of a helmet that has been on the job.

It measures approximately 14.5\" long x 11.5\" wide x 8\" tall.
