Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible vintage 1987 wooden rocking horse nutcracker depicting the iconic "Olbernhauer Reiterlein" (The Little Rider of Olbernhau). This premium piece of German folk art represents a masterful collaboration involving the historic workshops of the Füchtner family (the original creators of the classic toy soldier nutcracker), Legler (HODREWA), and the Dregeno artisan collective, manufactured during the East German (GDR / VEB) era.First designed in 1935 as a symbol of economic survival and winter relief charity for struggling toy carvers, the "Little Rider" features a traditional wooden soldier sitting proudly atop a classic white rocking horse.
