Up for sale is a finely detailed vintage Kwakwaka'wakw (Kwakiutl) hand-carved wooden totem plaque by artist David Robertson.
Artisan Provenance: The reverse is clearly inscribed in ink: "Thunderbird / David Robertson / Kingcome / Killer Whale". Kingcome Inlet, BC, is renowned for its rich cultural traditions and master woodcarvers. A fine rare addition to any serious collection as seen.
Design & Craftsmanship: Features a bold, deeply carved vertical stacked totem design with a hooked-beak Thunderbird atop a Killer Whale. Outstanding formline structure with crisp, deep relief cuts. Includes an attached leather hanger on the back.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. Shows nice aging, a rich warm finish, and light surface wear/minor marks consistent with age. Please inspect all detailed macro photos for exact condition.
