VINTAGE KNUTE ROCKNE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL STADIUM BRONZE For Sale

For your consideration is this bronze (or brass ?) Rockne Sportsmanship award, featuring the legendary Knute looming over Notre Dame stadium. I use the term ‘looming’ because he is bent forward at the ankles – arrived in my mailbox 15 years ago that way. He is solidly attached, and it doesn’t appear that his ankles are broken – see the photos. Stadium is missing the typical brass plate on the front that reminds us that “…it’s not whether you win or lose…it’s how you play the game”. Not clear whether this version of the award ever had that plate attached. No makers marks visible on the bottom. Size is 6-1/4” wide x 4-1/4” deep x 5-1/4” high. Weighs just under 3 lbs.
OK, so it’s not flawless, but still a neat item for the Fighting Irish enthusiast. Will be packaged carefully for shipping so that Knute does not incur any further lean.
