VINTAGE 1926 ARSENAL TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL (INDIANAPOLIS, IN) ESTATE LOT:
$74.99

Offered here is a beautifully preserved, multi-item historical lot from thehistoric Arsenal Technical Schools campus circa 1926. All items in this lotwere found together as a single student archive, and we believe that all the portraits are of graduates from the class of 1926.

Included are:

1. 1926 "Campus Sketches" Folio/Booklet: Excellent vintage condition. Features gorgeous, crisp pen-and-ink sketches oficonic landmarks across the 76-acre Civil War-era campus grounds. The Arsenal Tech campus is famous for originally serving as a Civil War-era U.S. Federal Arsenal (1865-1903) before becoming a high school in 1912. This booklet was commissioned for the 1926 graduating class to commemorate the unique, historic brick barracks, buildings, and grand trees. While the artwork inside is not explicitly signed on the pages, school historical archives confirm these sketches were drawn by the prominent Indiana illustrator, painter, and Herron Art Institute alumnus, Frederick Polley (1875–1957).

This 100-year-old booklet is in beautiful, crisp Excellent Vintage Condition. The booklet features its original, beautiful 1920s feathered deckled edges along the top and sides, completely intact and free of artificial fraying, tears, or shelf wear. The covers and pages are completely free of holes, rips, or page creases. Most of these booklets were written in by graduating seniors as memory books. This copy is incredibly rare because it is completely clean with NO names, ink markings, or annotations anywhere inside or out. Staples are original, tight, rust free and completely secure. The paper pages features a uniform, natural cream vintage aging characteristic of 1920s paper stock and are free of musty odors.

2. National Honor Society (NHS) Premium Trifold Portrait: An 11" x 7" olive green trifold folder featuring an unidentified young man. The front features the rare, early 1920s embossed academic staff/fleur-de-lis emblem encircled by an oval.Thisspecific folder has some wear. The right-hand inside border holding the photohas a clean tear running from the upper corner straight across to the outeredge. There are also a few small surface wear spots on the back exterior of thefolder. The frontembossed fleur-de-lis emblem remains in beautiful shape.

3. Russell L. Webb Studio Portrait: A beautifully preserved sepia portrait of a young man, mounted in a thick, mottled olive-green cardboard folder. Stamped "Russell L. Webb — Hamilton" on the outer border. Overall inExcellent Vintage Condition.

4. Eppley Photographers Studio Portrait: Features an unidentified young man in a 10" x 7" green folder from the prominent Eppley studio in Indianapolis.Overall in Excellent Vintage Condition.

5. Max Galloway Studio Portrait: Features anunidentified young woman in a premium 10.5" x 8" textured brownfolder. Imprinted "Max Galloway Indianapolis" on the inner border.Overall in Excellent Vintage Condition.

6. Scrapbook Group Portrait (7" x 5"): A loose, candid/informal vintage photography print of three young men from the school. Carefully retrieved from a period scrapbook, but still has the standard paper/glue remnants on the back frombeing mounted in a vintage book of memories. Great historical context!

7. Bodie Photographers Studio Portrait: A sepia portrait of a young man, mounted in a thick, mottled olive-green cardboard folder. Marked "Bodie Hammond, IND" on the outer border. Unlike the other portraits that are in Excellent Vintage Condition, this one shows some age discoloration on both the photo and cardboard folder. (Note - this was added after we took the group lot photo, so it is not in the listing picture.)
