a box of one dozen GREELY'S PATENT CORK EXTRACTORS . Patented Mar. 6 , 1888.
these are antique probably produced at the end of the 19th century. nickel plated with stained wooden handles. original box and instruction sheet.
This kind of Victorian era cork extractors are quite scarce and can go for quite a bit for a single one when they show up.. but an original box of a dozen unused..well that is scarce on a whole other level.A similar box of Greely Extractors was last saleed almost 30 years ago. Christie's Nov. 26, 1966. I don't believe such a set has seen the light of day since then.
condition : the box has wear and stains, the extractors though never used show some oxidization. i've not tried to clean these but i'm sure they will polish up nicely. I'm offering this antique set in "as found" condition. please examine the photos and ask any questions you may have.I think this set of Victorian era cork extractors is quite unique and should appeal to any collector of vintage and obscure corkscrews, tire bouchon, korkenzieher , cavatappi, cork pullers, screws or any manner of wine bottle opener.
