Made by an out of business railroad video company from Louisiana known as Classic images, this very rare un-narrated 2 hour videocassette covers both Norfolk & Western steam locomotives during the 80s: J-Class 4-8-4 number 611 built in 1950, & the newly restored Class A 2-6-6-4 number 1218 built in 1943.
The main segment covers the 1987 NRHS convention held in Roanoke Virginia with both 1218 & 611 from not only trackside, but also from a helicopter high in sky.
Aside from classic images, other well-known railroad video producers was also at the nearly 40 year old event: Pentrex, Mark 1 Video, Nick Lera, Video Rails, & the late America By Rail co-creator Greg Scholl.
Today only 611 is operating since being revived for the second time in 2015, as 1218 made its final trips in November of 1991, & it is still on display at the Virginia Museum of transportation.
