Commander Ashworth, retired as Vice Admiral,was the \"Weaponeer\" on board \"Bockscar\" the B29 that dropped the second Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki. Autographed Items autographed by Frederick Ashworth are not common. The autograph on the photo is on the photo, actual, real, not a scan reprint or forgery. It was obtained by me. I have placed a strip of paper over the photo to prevent It from being copied. I had a very small quantity of photos made and sent them to him with a Stadler Lumicolor (non-fading) pen.

Navy Commander Ashworth (rank at time)played a very Important role In the Atomic Bomb Project. he was recruited to Los Alamos by Navy Captain Parsons. Commander Ashworth selected Tinian as the Airfield that the 509th operated from and he flew as \"Weaponeer\" on the second Atomic Mission.
I knew Vice Admiral Ashworth;I shared much of my research and photos with him. He supported my efforts to memorialize the men of the 509th through my book and website. Several of these photos were used in our book \"The 509th Remembered\" available on our sitethe same name as our book.
