Brown cloth cover with gold-foil compass rose, "MED. CRUISE '74-'75" lettering, and the USS Saratoga ship's-crest shield (Latin motto "Invictus Gallus Gladiator"). Spine reads "USS Saratoga (CV-60)" in worn gold lettering. Approximately 300 pages covering the full deployment: departure day, port calls at Rota, Naples, Palma, Izmir, Lisbon, Málaga, and Casablanca, flight quarters and drills, department sections (Air, AIMD, Communications, Deck, Engineering, Medical, Navigation, Operations, Supply, Weapons, MarDet), and full squadron sections for Carrier Air Wing 3 (VF-31, VF-103, VA-37, VA-105, VA-75, RVAH-11, VAW-123, VS-24, HS-7). Includes candid photography, crew portraits, hand-drawn sketch pages, and an "In Memoriam" tribute page honoring four crew members lost during the deployment.
Condition, disclosed honestly: The front-cover gold-foil ship's-crest emblem has cracking and lifting to the foil (see close-up photos) — a genuine condition flaw, not a photography artifact. Spine lettering is worn/faded with light wear at the spine ends. Cover cloth shows light overall wear consistent with age and handling. Interior pages are clean and complete with no writing, tears, or water damage noted. A solid, honest reading/display copy of a well-documented Cold War-era carrier deployment — not a pristine collector's copy, priced accordingly.
