Two Mad Magazines: Issue #40 (July 1958) & Issue #41 (September 1958) For Sale

Here\'s a pair ofMad magazines from 1958. These are issues #40 and #41. First is Issue #40. Cover is detached, and there are numerous \"chip\" marks, especially in the upper left and lower right corners. Interior pages of the magazine are in very good condition, though, with no rips, tears, or other damage. Magazine includes two early contributions by Don Martin to Mad titled \"The Paper-Pickers\" and \"A Drive in the Country.\" Inside front cover has a full-page ad for \"Mad for Keeps\" (the first Mad hardcover anthology book), and there\'s an ad for the Mad T-shirt (which is VERY hard to find today) on the inside back cover. I\'m not a comic dealer so I wouldn\'t even attempt to grade this magazine. However, I\'d probably call the condition \"poor\" because of the detached cover.
Then there\'s Issue #41. This cover is firmly attached to the pages. There\'s a light vertical crease in the lower right corner. Magazine has two more Don Martin cartoons: \"In a Haberdashery\" and \"In a Penny Arcade.\" Inside front cover has a full-page for \"Mad for Keeps\" that\'s different from the ad that appeared in Issue #40, while the inside back cover has a full-page ad for Mad T-shirts which is also different from the ad which appeared in Issue #40. If I had to make a guess, I\'d rate this magazine as \"very good\" or \"very good+\"; it would have been a bit higher if not for the crease on the front cover. Please look at all of the photos before buying.
