This is a large twinned cassiterite. It\'s a big crystal, great example of twinning for the species, and a good example of a twinned crystal in general. It is currently uncleaned / unprepped and has some edge wear and old damage to one corner. I have seen cleaner examples of twinned cassiterites, but none that show the twinning as well. Good specimen.
Ex. NM Tech and J.S. Sobolewski. Both labels give the locality asShaoyang, Hunan, China. Cassiterite is known from the area, but I wasn\'t able to find photos of any specimens from the region. Seems to be an unusual locality.
