Author Paul Winkler suggests here that the deep history of German expansionism provided the foundational ideology for the Nazi party. He proposes that Nazism was not spontaneous, but the result of a long history of Pan-Germanism arising from entrenched elements of the national character and history. Winkler argues it was not only a reaction to World War I\'s Treaty of Versailles or the product of Adolf Hitler\'s genius. Winkler posits that secret societies and nationalist factions in Germany kept the ideology of independence alive and distinct from the broader Greco-Christian traditions of Western Europe. In the fog and promulgation of WWII, Paul Winkler posits that then contemporary Nazism had its roots in Prussian-Teutonic history. Winkler explains the origins of the Third Reich as a continuation of Teutonic logic under Prussian Junker [Jung-Herr] rule; an aristocracy dictating politics and an absolute favor of Industry. Summarized from original dust wrapper: Author Paul Winkler argues that Nazism did not entirely arise in nineteen twenties and thirties Germany, but rather that its underlying basis and ideas had their roots dating back a millennium. The book\'s title is inspired from the words of a deputy in the Bavarian Landtag who, in 1921, announced in the Parliament that the documents he held in hand evidenced a conspiracy going back a thousand years which he intended to expose. This deputy was assassinated a few days before he was scheduled to present this revelatory speech and its contents were never revealed. Winkler\'s research undoubtedly uncovers and divulges much and more of the murdered deputy\'s evidence. The contours of this hidden plan emerge and shed light on the state of Germany at the time. The secret of the \"Prussian-Teutonics,\" whose roots reach back beyond the Crusades, has often been obscured, but existed for centuries and often rose to dominance. This secretive force often led the country along divergent paths from other western European countries. Continuing from wrapper summary: Paul Winkler first came to America in 1940. His first ambition had been biology, but World War I led him to witness the zeitgeist of unrest and he preferred writing and journalism to scientific study. His chief objective was to spread an understanding of the vital problems to a wider audience.
