ORIGINAL TAMPA TRIBUNE — JULY 18, 1969 — APOLLO 11
Offered is an original, complete issue of The Tampa Tribune dated Friday, July 18, 1969, published during the historic Apollo 11 mission, just three days before the first manned lunar landing. It was wrapped in plastic wrap and stored in a box since issue.
The front page features extensive Apollo 11 coverage, including the headline:
“Walk On Moon May Be Moved Up Four Hours”
The issue contains contemporary photographs and reporting about the astronauts and their journey toward the Moon. Additional Apollo 11 coverage appears inside the newspaper, including reporting on the planned moonwalk and the possibility of changes to the mission schedule.
The newspaper also provides a fascinating snapshot of other events occurring in July 1969, including national, international, Florida and Tampa-area news.
The Sports section(take a look at the third photo.....who is that person?) contains contemporary professional sports coverage, including the article “Pro Holdouts To ‘Globetrot’”, along with photographs and stories concerning professional football and other sports personalities of the era.
This is a complete three-section, 60-page issue.
HISTORY & PROVENANCE
My parents saved this newspaper in 1969 and originally wrapped it in plastic for preservation. I later rewrapped it and kept it protected for many years.
CONDITION
This is an authentic 1969 newspaper and is approximately 57 years old. It has the expected age-related yellowing/toning, along with edge wear, tears and some small areas of paper loss.
The newspaper is fragile, particularly around some edges and folds. I have photographed representative interior sections, including Apollo 11 coverage, the Florida Edition/local news section and the Sports section. I deliberately did not fully open every section because doing so could cause additional damage to the fragile paper.
Please examine all photographs carefully. The photographs are of the actual newspaper being offered.

A fascinating piece of authentic Apollo 11, Florida and Tampa history — particularly interesting because it captures the mission before the historic Moon landing actually took place.
