The Maker
Artisan / Studio: Tacho Studio (Master artisan "Tacho" and apprentices).
Based in Cundinamarca, Colombia.
Traditional family pottery collective. The master artisan sculpted the molds and signed the anchor/numbered inventory blocks, while workshop members hand-painted the facades and lettered the city tags down the sides.
Production Period: Late 1980s to the late 1990s. Made during Colombia’s mid-to-late-century architectural folk art movement. Studios traveled the country documenting historic Pueblos Patrimonio (Heritage Towns) and cathedrals to create official numbered catalog sets for upscale souvenir boutiques and domestic art collectors.
