The actors are shown together in a scene from the 1954 film The Outcast in this black and white publicity photograph
Printed Photograph Signed: "That was long ago and/faraway/John/Derek" and "Slim Pickens", B/w 10x8. Publicity photograph for the 1954 film The Outcast. Actor, director, producer, cinematographer and writer John Derek (1926-1998), born Derek Delevan Harris, who made his film debut in 1944, appeared in such features as All the King's Men (1949), Mask of the Avenger (1951), The Ten Commandments (1956), Exodus (1960) and Nightmare in the Sun (1965). Derek was also seen on the small screen in the TV miniseries, Flair (1990), as well as in guest appearances on several series, from Lux Video Theatre (1954) to Frontier Circus (1962). He was married to four actresses, Pati Behrs (1951-1957), Ursula Andress (1957-1966), Linda Evans (1968-1974) and Bo Derek (1974 until his death); he photographed the latter three wives for "Playboy" magazine pictorials. A rodeo rider and then a popular rodeo clown, Slim Pickens (1919-1983) was a natural in Western films (from 1950) and TV series (from 1954). He could play a villain, as in Eye for an Eye (1966), but his best remembered roles were comic ones as in Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles (1974). As Major "King" Kong, he rode a nuclear bomb to its target bronco-style in Kubrick's black comedy, Dr. Strangelove (1963). Slightly bowed. Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
