St Roch is the patron saint of man\'s best friend. Especially nicefor anyone who loves dogs or is involved in any of the dog sports or rescue organizations orany nature or animal lover.
The 7/8\" nickel silvermedal has a traditional image ofSt Roch with his dog friend. Made in Italy; it comes on a 24\" continuous (no clasp) stainless steel chain which slips on and off over the head (fits over most size heads).

St Rock, also called Roc, Roch and Rocco, was a mendicant pilgrim of the Middle Ages who helped care for people with the plague. When he became sick, fearing the plague, he went into the woods to die, rather than expose anyone else who might care for him. A dog found him, befriended him, and brought him food from his master\'s table and kept him alive, until the dog\'s master followed the dog and found the saint and cared for him. St Rock survived, and we can imagine was grateful to man\'s best friend. He is often shown with a dog, and his patronages are knee problems and dogs, as well as infectious diseases and plagues. (Turns out he didn\'t have the plague, just a bad knee problem with an infection, and just needed rest and care - which the dog provided!)
The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a \"greeting card\" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 \"pages\"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.
