St. Agnes was a Christian martyr who lived during the 3rd century in Rome. She is known for her steadfast faith and purity of heart and for refusing to renounce her Christian beliefs, even in the face of persecution and death. According to legend, Agnes was a young girl who was pursued by many suitors, but she refused them all, declaring that she had consecrated herself to Christ. She was eventually sentenced to death by beheading, but even in her final moments, she remained faithful to her beliefs. St. Agnes is considered the patron saint of young girls, chastity, and rape victims.
