Offered here is a rare vintage Sperry Gyropilot Left Hand Control Unit, Part Number 642987, manufactured by Sperry Gyroscope Co., Inc., Brooklyn, New York. This original aircraft autopilot control assembly is marked \"Gyropilot\" and features its original dual flexible mechanical drive shafts and control mechanisms. Early Sperry Gyropilot systems were among the pioneering aircraft autopilot technologies used in military, commercial, and civilian aviation during the WWII and early postwar era. Authentic Gyropilot components are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially complete control assemblies retaining their original identification plate and attached drive components. An excellent piece for aviation collectors, aircraft instrument enthusiasts, aerospace museums, military surplus collections, restoration projects, cockpit displays, or historical aviation exhibits.
