Spanish Visor Hat, Spanish Republic Coat of Arms Badge, Spanish Civil War Period For Sale

Very dark blue, almost appears to be black. Has the coat of arms of the Spanish Republic (1931-1939) on the front badge and on the brass side chinstrap buttons. Has white horizontal chevron, possibly for rank, on the front. Barcelona makers mark sewn under the top, size 57 with additional lettering embossed into the leather sweat band and a black leather visor. Regular army units of that era had cloth visors, but leather visors were used by police or militia units, the assault guards and the air force. Given the insignia this was most likely used by a police or militia unit. Has a metal support brace protruding through the liner in the front as pictured that is not causing any support issues with the hat. Heavy white thread stitching around the sweatband possibly done as a field repair or reinforcement. Otherwise in very good overall condition, especially for a 90-year-old hat.
