The nine LPs of performances recorded by the Czech maestro Kubelík with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra for CBS over three seasons from 1978 to 1980 are all masterpieces that imprint the depth of this great conductor\'s artistry at its peak. Recorded in purely recording sessions unrelated to actual concerts at the beginning and end of Kubelik\'s final season as principal conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in 1978/1979 this complete set of Schumann symphonies was Kubelik\'s first release after moving to CBS and his second complete symphony recording following the DG recording with the Berlin Philharmonic in 1963-64. The opposing arrangement of the string section which Kubelik favored and the wind section of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra filled with virtuosos blended together seamlessly.
