Scandium Metal, 10 g, 99.9% Granules
Rare earth metal sample, element 21. Produced and packed in Kazakhstan.
This is 10 grams of scandium metal in granules with a uniform, small grain structure. The purity is 99.9% (3N). The granules are shown in the photo next to a ruler for scale.
Scandium is not rare in the Earth\'s crust, but it is almost never concentrated in ores, so scandium metal is scarce and expensive. Scandium suits element collections and periodic table displays, and also research and small scale lab work. It is used in aerospace grade aluminium-scandium alloys, LED phosphors and laser materials, and advanced ceramics and electronics.
