The phrase EX INDUMENTIS is Latin for “from the clothing”. In recent years, contemporary trinketsof Relic Medals, holy plaques, Saintstatues and religious trinkets have begun to label their items as beingEX INDUMENTIS even though they are not such; rather they are merely piecesof cloth or canvas that have beentouched to an actual relic of the saint, then stamped out en masse to be attached to their souvenir medals orstatues. As such, they are 3rd class relics not 2nd class relics, as the phraseEX INDUMENTIS implies.
