L. Prang & Co. of Boston was one of America's important 19th-century lithographic and printing firms. This Lincoln portrait is known in theCDV-size formatand is associated with Prang's 19th-century portrait issues.
This particular design is sometimes referred to by collectors as the“without frame” portrait variation. This terminology describes the design of the printed portrait anddoes NOT mean that a separate frame is missing from the card.
Considering its considerable age, the card remains an attractive example. As would be expected with an original item from this period, there is evidence of age and handling. Please rely on the photographs for the best indication of its overall condition.
