SCARCE ORIGINAL WWII USMC U.S. MARINE CORPS (NOT ARMY) KHAKI SHELTER HALF 1945 For Sale

SCARCE ORIGINAL WORLD WAR TWO U.S. MARINE CORPS KHAKI SHELTER HALF. This is a U.S. Marine Corps shelter half made of khaki color duck material. USMC shelter halves differ from their Army counterparts by having extra grommet holes, loops for straps to pass through to hold the bedroll together, lack of U.S. markings & a cloth contract tag instead of markings applied directly to the material. The shelter half is in overall good, serviceable condition showing some field wear & age. There are areas of fade, discoloration, soil and streaks of orange paint, more so to the outer side. There are no rips, tears, holes or repairs. The grommets along one edge and both corners have been neatly reinforced with brown color canvas. These do not appear to be repairs, I believe they were added to get a longer service life out of the shelter half as these areas tend to rip & tear. All of the buttons & grommets are present. The contract tag is presents, manufactured by Bowers & Co. and dated 1945. See multiple photos posted of both sides of the shelter half for the best idea of the condition.
