1935 WESTERN UNION TELEGRAM SOL’S LIBERTY SHOWS TRAVELING CARNIVAL WORK REQUEST

Rare & wonderful!

Original 1935 Western Union Telegram sent July 2, 1935 to Fred Campbell c/o Sol’s Liberty Shows.

Sam Solomon (1884-1967) was a Russian immigrant who owned and managed this traveling carnival based out of Caruthersville, Missouri.

Solomon would partner with Carl Sedlmayer in the early forties, pre-WWII, in presenting the Rubin & Cherry Shows.

The sender, William McKenney, was seeking work for himself & his wife.

The return message is written in pencil on the reverse: “Need you now. Mrs. later. Come on quick.”

Obvious edge & corner wear lower left as shown. Small tear at fold crease bottom lower right.

Measures 8-1/2” x 6-1/2”.

Overall good, vintage condition.

Please review all photos.

A nice addition to any circus or carnival ephemera collection!

Thanks for looking!
