This is a vintage divided back postcard, postally used and postmarked 1915 from Rochester, Minnesota. Postcard features a view of the historic Medical Block (often called the 1914 Building) in Rochester, Minnesota, which served as the first permanent home of the Mayo Clinic. Construction began in 1912 and the grand opening was in 1914. The building was the first facility specifically designed for an integrated, multi-specialty group practice of medicine. The first electrocardiogram was performed in this building in 1914. In 1986, despite being designated a National Historic Landmark, the original red-brick building was razed to make way for modernized medical education facilities. Note that postcard appears to have been trimmed and is larger than standard sized postcard. Postcard may have normal wear associated with old postcards such as creases, stains and bent corners.
