Rex Allen (1920–1999), known as “The Arizona Cowboy,” was one of the last great Hollywood singing cowboys. A star of Republic Pictures, he appeared in 19 Western films beginning in 1950 and became a top box‑office draw of the era. Allen was also widely recognized for his warm, distinctive narration in Walt Disney’s nature films and later in Charlotte’s Web. Beyond film, he recorded hundreds of songs, performed on major radio programs like The National Barn Dance, and later hosted and narrated television programs. His legacy continues through his son, country singer Rex Allen Jr.
