Revolutionary War era Keg or Canteen. Original paint with several coats showinggreat age. Appears to have an originaldark red with black applied over the “rings”. The black has flaked off in anumber of area. The center may have hada coat of white paint at one time but this is nearly all gone save one areathat is very crackly. This example turned from on piece of wood with fittedends. Bung hole in the center. Measures8 inches long and about 5½ inches in diameter.Ends are not perfectly round.Stable age crack in one end.
