Real photo postcard of a large two-story store building in Renton, Allegheny County, with a partly faded hand-lettered caption ending "Store Co., Renton, Pa." and the view number 1939-A. The building has a gabled roof, a broad upper story lined with windows, an exterior stairway at the side, and a long shed extension, set on a hillside above a fenced road with young trees. Frame houses stand on the slope behind. Renton was a coal mining community in Plum Township, home to the Renton Mine of the Union Collieries Company. Mailed on a 1-cent green Washington stamp and addressed to Westmoreland County, with a handwritten message in Italian: the sender reports that the family has arrived safely, hopes everyone is in good health, and sends affectionate greetings to all in the family.
