Reed's Rembrandt Vintage Halloween Paper Tablecloth, Scarecrow Jack o Lantern For Sale

A 1960s Halloween tablecloth that never made it to a party. Still sealed in its original cellophane, still wearing its 59 cent price label, folded the same way it was folded on a five and dime shelf sixty years ago.The print is peak mid century Halloween: a butter yellow ground with a row of fat orange jack o lanterns marching across the bottom, blue green tufts of grass between them, a corn shock, and a scarecrow in an orange shirt and teal patched trousers with a black hat. Simple flat color, heavy black outlines, the loose hand drawn style that paper party goods had before everything went photographic. Nothing menacing in it at all. It is the Halloween of construction paper and a bowl of candy corn.Works on a table for an October party, but it is just as good flat on a wall, in a shadow box, or layered into a vintage Halloween display with the price tag showing, which is half the charm.Maker: C. A. Reed Co., Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Reed's Rembrandt Line, Highest Quality. Made in USA. Original 59 cent retail label intact.Dating: 1963 to 1967.
