Up for sale is a truly spectacular, exceptionally rare antique Victorian wall-mounted magazine rack / newspaper pocket portfolio dating from the late 1800s to the very early 1900s. This gorgeous mechanical parlor piece is an absolute statement item for any traditional antique collector, Victorian home, or dark academia display.
The piece features a fixed back panel and a hinged front panel connected by its original steel safety retention chains. When mounted to the wall, it expands open on a solid tongue-and-groove wood bottom shelf to securely hold magazines, newspapers, or sheet music.
Both panels feature massive, deeply embossed ornate gesso-on-wood frames finished in their original brilliant metallic gold gilt.
