Rare, very early Type 1 SA rear sight base. Part number C46001.Most sight bases are not marked with a part number. My books say this part was used only on the first 25,000 rifles.
Note concentric ring visible from the sides. Sight bases after Type1 do not have this.
Excellent condition. Crisp numbering, very good parkerizing.
A rare find.
Reserve is $150. Frankly, I won\'t be disappointed if it doesn\'t sell. But if someone needs this part to make a very early Garand more correct, then it will be going to a good home.
Full disclosure:I can\'t vouch for theprovenance ofthis part. Itis in such good condition, it seems almost too good to be true. It was sold to me on as part of lot of parts that were supposed to be Winchester. Clearly, its not a Winchester part.
If its been re-parked, they did a good job.
Bottom line is that in good conscious, I can\'t say I know it to be in original condition.
Caveat emptor. I will be glad to send add\'l pix on request
