Pictured is a 8.5" tall, cottonwood root Kachina doll created by famed, award winning artist Ernest Chapella who passed away in 1997. The item was an estate piece sitting on a shelf for some time. The Katsina is made all of wood and features a mudhead or "Koyemsi" figure. The artwork is signed by the artist and numbered #123.
The item was gently wiped with dry q-tips but still shows accumulated dust in spots. The item is original and was created before the mid 1990s.
