For your consideration is an exceptionally rare antique Coalport England jeweled porcelain covered box, fashioned in an impressive egg form and raised on three gilt feet.
This elaborate example features extensive hand-applied decoration with a rich gilt ground densely covered in hundreds of raised turquoise enamel “jewels.” Soft pink reserves are embellished with intricate gilt scrollwork, while the top is centered by a large opalescent-style cabochon surrounded by a ring of ruby-colored raised jewels and pearl-like accents.
The two-piece egg-shaped form separates at the center and has a pink glazed interior with gilt edging. The combination of the unusual footed egg form, extensive jeweling and lavish gilt decoration makes this a particularly striking example of Coalport’s highly collectible jeweled porcelain.
The underside bears the Coalport England crown backstamp, clearly numbered V2336, with the additional number 33. It also carries the retailer mark of the prestigious Bailey, Banks & offerdle, Philadelphia.
Approximate measurements: 6” tall × 4.5” wide × 3.5” deep.
Excellent antique condition. Carefully examined with no chips, cracks or repairs noted, and no missing applied jewels or decorative elements. The extensive raised turquoise jeweling, gilt decoration and ornamental details are remarkably well preserved.
