Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible strand of authentic Antique Hebron Glass Trade Beads (also historically referred to as "Kano Beads" or "Munjir Beads").
Dating from the 18th century to the early 1800s, these historic beads were hand-crafted in Hebron using local sands and salts harvested from the Dead Sea. They were carried along historical trade routes into Egypt and West Africa, where they were highly prized.
While the dull yellow variant is the most common survivor, this particular strand features the significantly rarer and highly sought-after soft olive/sage green beads. The strand showcases a classic arrangement, completed by a single contrasting yellow accent bead near the center.
True to their authentic history, these beads display a distinct barrel/cylindrical shape with rounded, hand-ground edges. This finish was traditionally achieved by Yoruba and Hausa traders in Nigeria to ensure a tighter, smoother fit when strung together.
Condition:Excellent antique condition with a wonderful weathered matte patina, minor surface pitting, and rustic variations characteristic of genuine centuries-old wound glass. They remain securely tied on a heavy, traditional light-colored cord. Bracelet is 3" diameter and does NOT stretch.
Please review all photos closely to appreciate the magnificent history, unique texture, and coloring of this scarce collector's strand.
