Rare Alexander's Speedway Oil 1910s Era Gas & Oil Embossed Tin Tacker Sign EARLY
Exceedingly rare sign. Circa 1910-1920. Made by the Suter Advertising Co. Baltimore, MD. Little information is out there on the H.T Alexander & Co. company. According to internet sources, the company was founded in the late 1800s by the son of a Standard Oil executive. I've collected and sold antique American advertising and signage for over a decade. I have never seen a piece from this company before. I love the expression, "Lubrication Without Carbonization" as well as the wheel graphic in the center of the sign. Very early piece. As rare as they come!
Embossed tin. Condition is fair. Paint is stable and untouched. If cleaning is your thing, this sign is a great candidate. It is dirty.
